Lambeth Semi-Detached House Transformation

Location: Herne Hill, Lambeth
Construction Budget and Build-Time: £500k, 12 months.
The original semi-detached house was in very poor condition with structural issues when purchased by our client with a view to creating a dream home.
The intention of the proposals was to maximise additional floor area whilst creating beautiful and memorable spaces for family living and entertaining.
Overall the build includes a double storey extension and a loft extension and has more than doubled the floor area of the property as well as creating a sequence of light-filled spaces that interconnect.
The rear extension creates the new living kitchen dining area that connects to the garden, with a double height space over the kitchen island and a library/study mezzanine hanging over the space.
The main house includes a front reception room, WC and utility as well as a unique playroom that captures natural light from the rear extension and includes a window seat and play-net hammock over the dining table.
The loft extension added 3 bedrooms and a bathroom whilst the first floor was converted with a master suite and large guest bedroom.
Our role was for a full architectural service including, design, planning, interior design, tender, overseeing construction.
