Bringing the garden into the heart of the home, opening up and looking out, a seamless connection to nature.
This project reimagines the ground floor of a traditional mid-terraced house in Stratford for a client with a passion for gardening. The brief was to connect the home more closely to its generous garden, to let planting, light and outdoor life shape the design of the new living spaces.

The scheme replaces a series of small, subdivided rooms with a large rear extension featuring full-height glazing and doors that open directly onto the garden. Brick piers, slim metal capping and generous windows give the extension a refined contemporary character that complements the original house. A gardener’s shower room sits neatly at the back of the plan, designed for ease after a day outdoors.
Views to the garden are now framed throughout the interior, with planting brought right up to the glazing to blur the line between inside and out. The garden design, created in collaboration with award-winning landscape designer Jack Wallington, completes the transformation, making the garden an integral part of the home’s architecture.
